Overshot Scarf and Runner

This is a pattern from Handwoven Oct/Nov 2019 – Ask Madelyn Overshot Scarf.

The warp is white and black cotton and the pattern weft is black sock wool with tabby weft the black cotton used in the warp. All the yarns were dyed by me for the warp and weft.

The first scarf was sett at 20epi which made the overshot pattern elongated. I only saw this after the whole first repeat of the pattern was woven – I HAD sampled a slice which was clearly not enough of a sample!

The second piece (a runner) was resleyed with the centre white section sett at 16epi and the black edges at 20epi.  I changed treadles to give a lovely pattern which is now perfectly round!

To use up the last of the warp I just did a simple treadling on the twill circle with a white pattern weft and black tabby. I think this looks rather nice!

End of the warp!
