Winter is here… preparing with a Mosaic cardigan!

I love trying out new techniques! The latest one was a Mosaic crochet cardi from Lilla Bjorn Crochet called the Fjell Cardigan. I purchased the pattern from the designer so I could start dyeing the wool I wanted and needed to use.

I used a sock weight wool – Soul ‐ from African Expressions and dyed the contrast colour in: Delphinium Blue, Berry Crush and Lilac with a lot of natural colour in between and contrasted it with the natural cream colour.

The main colour was to be in the natural cream colour. The contrast wool makes it seem like coloured mosaic blocks. It was such a pleasure crocheting the pattern. It is certainly a very striking technique!

I actually finished it on Christmas Eve in 2019, just before we went to DS for Christmas Eve celebrations, and to Cape Town on Christmas day. I had wanted to take it to CT as the weather was forecast to be cool, but DH decided it was too heavy in our minimalistic luggage. So it stayed at home and I had to make do with other hand-knitted sweaters!!

It was at least ready for winter 2020, but with the global pandemic that is COVID-19, I have not had too many opportunities to wear it – one does not go out or socialize very much nowadays, so there is not much opportunity to wear such a lovely cardigan! 🙁
