Bead Leno on a 4-shaft loom

I have been asked to do a demo of Bead Leno on the 11th September 2019 at the monthly meeting of the Pretoria Weaver’s Guild.

Bead Leno does not mean that beads are inserted into the weaving, but rather that the warp threads are manipulated by beads inserted in front of the heddles and behind the reed.

I did my prep yesterday and Monday, which entailed weaving 2 scarves with different thickness wefts. They were wet-finished and the fringes were simply tied with an overhand knot for simplicity. The weave creates an interesting web network design.

I also wrote up the notes to go with the talk, which should go out to members after the demo, and also be put into the newsletter that all members receive about 3x a year.
